US Signal, a national digital infrastructure provider, is undertaking a significant expansion of its data center in Waukee, Iowa, with an investment of $29.8 million. The project involves adding over 33,000 square feet to its existing 19,453-square-foot facility at 590 NE Alice’s Road, with a building permit issued in February.
The expansion is designed to address the increasing demand for high-performance computing, including artificial intelligence and mission-critical enterprise applications, by enhancing capacity and integrating advanced cooling systems. Nate Ohrt, US Signal's data center manager, stated that the addition will support long-term growth while simultaneously minimizing energy consumption.
Local government bodies have already approved the project. The Waukee Planning and Zoning Commission approved the site plan in November, followed by approval from the city council in January. The new construction includes a 2,145-square-foot office and a 31,377-square-foot warehouse, along with 35 additional parking spaces and an ornamental perimeter fence.
