Board of Aldermen considering data center, food truck legislation
The Saint Louis Board of Aldermen is considering legislation to eliminate tax incentives for data center developers and establish regulations for where data centers can be built within city limits. Although expected to be finalized, the legislation was moved to the informal discussion portion of the agenda after debate and amendments.
The Saint Louis Board of Aldermen is scheduled to convene to discuss two key pieces of legislation related to data center development. These proposals aim to eliminate tax incentives for data center developers and establish new regulations governing where data centers can be constructed within city limits.
Originally slated for finalization, these data center-related items were moved to the non-binding, informal discussion section of the agenda after several hours of debate and the addition of multiple amendments earlier in the week. Separately, the Board is also considering Board Bill 50, sponsored by 14th Ward Alderman Rasheen Aldridge, which seeks to revise city code to create specific food truck zones and simplify the permitting process for vendors. This legislation is intended to revitalize downtown Saint Louis by attracting small businesses, though it includes a provision requiring food trucks to be at least 150 feet away from existing brick-and-mortar establishments.
