Meta has finalized an agreement to develop a five-phase hyperscale data center and technology campus on more than 2,000 acres in Maysville, Kentucky. Mason County Judge-Executive Owen McNeill said the project could employ more than 400 people and generate substantial annual revenue for Mason County Schools and county government. The agreement also includes a community benefits package valued at more than $115 million, according to McNeill.

The Mason County Fiscal Court approved zoning for the controversial project in May. Its planned footprint includes Meadowland Village trailer park and other areas where dozens of residents may be required to move; some residents were reportedly offered $50,000 buyouts. A group of affected residents previously threatened legal action, and the lawsuit has now been filed.
