Plymouth Township data center proposal sparks contentious zoning hearing
A proposed 2 million-square-foot data center at 900 Conshohocken Road in Plymouth Township remains under review in a contentious zoning hearing. Opponents challenged testimony about noise, lighting, water and power use, while Montgomery County was granted party status in the proceedings.
Developer Brian O'Neill is seeking a special exception to build a 2 million-square-foot data center on the former steel mill site at 900 Conshohocken Road in Plymouth Township. During a continued zoning hearing, O'Neill and his attorneys discussed the project's potential noise and lighting impacts, water and power consumption, jobs and tax revenue.
Attorneys for opponents disputed portions of the testimony and argued that expert witnesses should address several technical issues. Montgomery County was granted party status because it owns the former Ivy Rock Quarry property across the road. Additional evidentiary hearings are expected before public comment begins, with the next hearing scheduled for Nov. 19.
