White Rose Partners has proposed Project Tomahawk, a new data center to be built on 39.3 acres near the southeast intersection of FM 1385 and Parvin Road in Prosper, Texas. The Prosper Planning and Zoning Commission is scheduled to consider the project on August 18, following multiple reviews by town staff.
According to David Hoover, Prosper's director of Development Services, town staff had significant concerns regarding the facility's power demands, water usage, and noise generation. The developer's website indicates that the project is designed to mitigate these issues by coordinating with the adjacent Brazos Electric Power Cooperative substation for power upgrades, utilizing a closed-loop system for water, and incorporating sound-dampening screens and greenery to reduce noise.
This proposal surfaces shortly after Governor Greg Abbott announced on August 3 a statewide halt on the approval of new data center projects seeking to connect to the Texas power grid, pending an audit by state regulators. While Project Tomahawk's website states the developer will work with all relevant officials, it does not specifically address this statewide pause. The upcoming Planning and Zoning Commission meeting will provide an opportunity for the public to offer comments on the proposal.
