Nassau County, Florida, has approved the formation of a Data Center Fact-Finding Committee and scheduled a series of public workshops throughout June. This initiative coincides with a proposed moratorium on new data center applications, which is set for final consideration on June 8. The committee, composed of county staff with expertise in planning, environmental sciences, land development, and economics, aims to consolidate research and testimony.

The committee's mandate includes evaluating data center development issues such as environmental impacts, water consumption, electrical demand, land use compatibility, infrastructure capacity, economic and fiscal impacts, and relevant Florida State Law parameters. Seven public workshops are planned in Yulee and Callahan, providing opportunities for public comment and featuring presentations from various experts including legal counsel, environmental directors, economic development professionals, and representatives from water management districts.
