Small NH town eyed for massive datacenter
A large 350-megawatt data center is being considered for the town of Bow, New Hampshire, on the site of the former Merrimack Station coal plant. Filings with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission indicate an exploratory study is underway by Eversource Energy at the request of Granite Shore Power to assess grid connection viability.
The town of Bow, New Hampshire, is being considered as a location for a significant 350-megawatt data center development. The proposed site is the former Merrimack Station, which was New England's last active coal plant before its closure last year.
According to filings with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and a social media post from New Hampshire's consumer advocate, an agreement has been made for a preliminary, exploratory study. This study, requested by Granite Shore Power, the owner of Merrimack Station, will be conducted by Eversource Energy to determine the viability of connecting such a large project to the regional electric grid.
