Wichita County Commissioners recently approved names for private roads within a new worker housing and storage site near Electra. This development, situated off FM 2384 near Highway 287, is being built to support the construction of a new Google data center in neighboring Wilbarger County, specifically near Oklaunion.

Commissioner Jeff Watts clarified that the Wichita County property will serve as a "man camp" for housing construction workers and a storage site for equipment and inventory. He emphasized that no data center operations will take place at this location. The development is expected to provide more than 100 mobile home spaces, with workers anticipated to move in by the end of the month.

The approval of road names was crucial for emergency responders to efficiently locate individuals within the development, which features privately owned and maintained roads by Hays Property. The site near Electra is poised to become a significant support hub for what is projected to be one of the region's largest data center projects.
