Amazon has abandoned its application to build four data centers at the former George Washington University Science and Technology Campus in Ashburn. The property is expected to be rezoned for mostly residential mixed-use development, while Amazon will donate land for community facilities and contribute $5 million to Loudoun County's housing fund.
Amazon has withdrawn its application to build four data centers at the former George Washington University Science and Technology Campus in Ashburn, according to Loudoun County Chair Phyllis Randall. George Washington University sold the site to Amazon earlier in the year.
Under the reported agreement, the property will be rezoned for mostly residential mixed-use development. Amazon also plans to donate about 25 acres for a future community arts center and indoor sports facility and contribute $5 million to Loudoun County's housing fund.
