We Energies has proposed a 750-megawatt combined-cycle natural gas power plant at its existing Fox Energy Center in Wrightstown. The project is intended to address expected electricity demand growth from data centers and manufacturers, although no specific data center has been identified as a customer. Construction could begin in 2029, with operations projected for 2032, pending regulatory review and permits.

We Energies submitted an engineering plan to the Wisconsin Public Service Commission for a proposed 750-megawatt natural gas plant at the company’s Fox Energy Center in Wrightstown. The combined-cycle facility would include a combustion turbine, heat-recovery steam generator and steam turbine, with site development projected to begin in the second quarter of 2029 and commercial operation expected in late 2032.

The proposal comes as We Energies anticipates significant electricity-demand growth from data centers and manufacturing investments in its service territory. The plan does not identify a specific data center that would use the plant’s output. The property contains 22 wetlands, and We Energies expects some impacts while it works with state and federal agencies to determine permitting requirements. The company plans to file a formal Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity application within 60 days of the engineering-plan filing.
