AI cloud computing company Lambda has announced plans to develop a new data center at MidAmerica Industrial Park in Mayes County, Oklahoma. The project is expected to generate an estimated $500 million in tax revenue for the county over the next decade, according to company projections.
The development is also anticipated to create up to 1,000 construction jobs and 100 permanent positions. Chouteau Mayor Brenda Cunningham lauded the project's potential economic impact. The facility will be located in the industrial park's southern section, within the Chouteau-Mazie Public Schools tax boundary.
Lambda has committed to sustainable practices for the new facility, stating it will employ closed-loop cooling technology to recycle water and minimize consumption. Furthermore, the company will cover its full electricity costs and fund the necessary infrastructure development, ensuring these expenses are not passed on to other customers of the Grand River Dam Authority (GRDA), as confirmed by GRDA CEO Dan Sullivan. Cloverleaf Infrastructure has been selected to prepare the site, and ongoing discussions with local leaders and residents are planned.
