The Hermantown Planning and Zoning Commission held a public hearing on a special use permit requested for a proposed Google data center campus. The permit would allow up to three data center buildings, along with an office, stormwater facilities, parking and access drives.

Harmony Group, LLC submitted the application in July 2026. Community Development Director Eric Johnson said the permit addresses site-related elements including building placement and size, utilities, stormwater management, landscaping and screening. The commission's recommendation will be forwarded to the Hermantown City Council for a final decision.
