Franklin County zoning committee will decide on 2 data center proposals Tuesday
Franklin County's Planning & Zoning Committee is set to decide on two data center proposals after an 11-hour public meeting. Residents are largely opposed, citing environmental concerns and unsuitability for farmland. Opponents have vowed to continue fighting if the proposals are approved.
Franklin County's Planning and Zoning Committee is scheduled to make a recommendation on two proposed data center developments following an extended public meeting. The issue gained prominence in January, culminating in a nearly 11-hour meeting last month where numerous community members voiced opposition. Residents expressed concerns that the industrial-scale facilities would harm the local ecosystem and are inappropriate for farmland. The proposed sites include a 400-acre development near Crooked Creek in Pacific and a 575-acre development in Diamond Farms in Villa Ridge. Opponents have indicated that they will continue their fight if the county commissioners approve the proposals.
