Google and Intersect have announced plans to construct the Meitner Energy Center, a new data center located near Pampa in Gray County, Texas. This collaboration emphasizes sustainability, with the facility designed to use air-cooling to minimize water consumption and powered primarily by clean energy from co-located wind, solar, and battery storage systems, supplemented by on-site gas.

The project is a significant economic development for the region, expected to enhance local energy capacity and create numerous jobs. Gray County Judge Chris Porter highlighted the partnership as instrumental in aligning infrastructure initiatives with county priorities, viewing the investment as a foundation for regional progress. Cortnie Hale, president and CEO of the Pampa Chamber of Commerce, expressed enthusiasm for Google's involvement, recognizing it as a tremendous opportunity for the community that reinforces Pampa's potential on a global scale.

To support the construction, Google has established the Caprock Workforce Hub in Wheeler County, an 800-acre residential facility designed to house up to 3,500 workers. This initiative aims to reduce traffic and minimize impact on local infrastructure. Andrew Hart, regional head of Data Center Public Affairs with Google, reiterated the company's commitment to being a good neighbor by investing in local priorities, protecting resources, and working with residents for a strong future.
