Several Georgia families allege in a 180-page lawsuit that construction of Meta's data center disturbed the groundwater system and caused sediment to enter nearby private wells. Residents, including the Morris family, say discolored water has clogged filters and required frequent replacements.

The construction site is identified as being in a groundwater recharge area considered particularly vulnerable to pollution from surface activities. Meta acknowledged that limited blasting of rock and soil took place about 1.1 miles from the homeowners' property, but disputes responsibility and says independent experts are investigating the reported contamination.
