Zoning Commission Goes Against 'Project Tango' - County Commission To Vote
Palm Beach County's Zoning Commission recommended against 'Project Tango,' a large AI data center, due to resident opposition over noise concerns. Despite this, County Commissioners are still scheduled to vote on the project later this month, with the developer highlighting potential tax revenue benefits.
The Palm Beach County Zoning Commission voted to recommend against "Project Tango," a proposed large AI data center, following a meeting where residents expressed concerns about potential constant noise affecting their sleep, health, and quality of life.
Despite the Zoning Commission's "no" recommendation, the Palm Beach County Commissioners are still expected to hold a final vote on the project on July 15th. Developer Ernie Cox addressed the noise concerns, stating that changes have been made to move the project further away from homes and enclose it within a building designed to reduce sound. Cox also emphasized the significant economic benefits, projecting "hundreds of millions of dollars a year in ad valorum tax revenue" from the project.
