LN Compute Inc. is exploring a 30-megawatt artificial intelligence and high-performance computing data center at Belfast Commerce Park in Richmond Hill. The proposed $150 million facility would require an appeal to the Richmond Hill Board of Zoning Appeals because data centers are not an allowed use under the current planned unit development.

LN Compute Inc. CEO Eric Yao contacted Richmond Hill planning officials about developing a 30-megawatt artificial intelligence and high-performance computing data center on approximately 19 acres at Belfast Commerce Park. The proposed facility would represent about $150 million in capital investment and create 20 permanent jobs, with no process emissions or municipal water use for cooling.

Richmond Hill Planning and Zoning Director Brian Crooks said the data center is not an allowed use under the Belfast Commerce planned unit development and would require an appeal before the Board of Zoning Appeals. Yao has requested information about the application process, but the company must first obtain authorization from the property owner, the Development Authority of Bryan County, before filing an application.
