Property owners sue over control of West Palm Beach AI data center site
A lawsuit has been filed between two property owners, WPBF Logistics and PBA Holdings, over a 202-acre site in West Palm Beach designated for the controversial Project Tango AI data center. WPBF Logistics seeks to stop PBA Holdings' master plan application before upcoming county commission zoning hearings and votes, alleging delays and increased scrutiny due to the project.
A new legal dispute has emerged over the controversial Project Tango, an AI data center proposed for a 202-acre site in Palm Beach County. One of the property owners, WPBF Logistics, has filed an emergency lawsuit against PBA Holdings, the longtime owner of the remaining land, just weeks before key public hearings. The lawsuit asks a judge to halt the project's progress.
WPBF Logistics, which owns approximately 60 acres of the site, claims PBA Holdings focused on securing approvals for Project Tango while delaying development on WPBF Logistics' smaller parcel. The company is seeking a court order to compel PBA Holdings to withdraw its master plan application before a July 2nd zoning hearing and a subsequent July 15th vote by Palm Beach County Commissioners. The lawsuit asserts that the controversial nature of Project Tango has led to increased scrutiny and costly delays for the entire property.
Court records also reveal a 2021 agreement between the two entities initially intended for warehouse development. However, with the surging demand for AI data centers, both parties are now vying for control over the property's future in this lucrative market. This internal conflict adds another layer of complexity to the project, which already faces significant opposition from local residents, parents, and the teachers union.
