Officials in Oneonta, New York have put a 12-month moratorium on plans to construct an artificial intelligence data center in the town.
The proposed data center was planned for a 357 County Road 9 property that was purchased by a company called Eco Yoda last year.
Local residents voiced concerns about the project at a recent town meeting and presented a petition with over 700 signatures opposing the development.
The Oneonta Town Board has now enacted the temporary moratorium to halt construction work on the data center project. The town will hold a public hearing on the matter on April 8th to further consider the proposal and community feedback.
