A significant land transaction in Salem Township, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania, is set to enable the development of a large data center campus. Nearly 100 property owners collectively sold approximately 1,700 acres of land for over $500 million to QTS, a company owned by Blackstone.
This acquisition represents one of the largest coordinated land deals for data center development in the United States. The planned campus is expected to house between 12 and 17 data centers and will be situated close to an existing Amazon project and the Salem Nuclear Power Plant. Construction on the expansive campus could potentially commence as early as this fall.
