Beal Infrastructure, the builder, stated the project is set to be operational by 2028.
Several dozen protesters gathered at the construction entrance of "Project Blue," a controversial data center project in Pima County, Arizona, blocking construction trucks from leaving the site. The protesters expressed feelings of betrayal by the Pima County supervisors who approved the project and vowed to continue their efforts to stop its development.
Pima County Supervisor Rex Scott, one of three who voted for the project, highlighted its economic benefits and job creation, while also stating that Pima County has a history of balancing economic development with environmental concerns. Protesters, however, do not believe this claim and plan to maintain their opposition.
Beal Infrastructure, the company building the data center, encouraged peaceful protest and expressed their willingness to continue dialogue with Pima County. They anticipate the project will be operational by 2028.
