U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville has reaffirmed his support for data centers in Alabama, stating they will bring significant revenue to public services. U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) has reiterated his strong support for data center development within Alabama, emphasizing that these facilities will contribute "unbelievable" revenue to local schools, law enforcement, and other public services. Tuberville, who is also running for governor, shared these remarks with a group of Alabama sheriffs.

Data centers across the nation are currently facing significant pushback due to concerns regarding their extensive demands for power and water, as well as land use and potential costs. Some states are even contemplating bans on new data center construction. However, Senator Tuberville believes that a portion of this opposition is being orchestrated through social media by China, asserting that China does not want the U.S. to grow.

In response, former Senator Doug Jones, who is also vying for the gubernatorial seat against Tuberville, vehemently dismissed Tuberville's claims. Jones stated that attributing the opposition to China is one of the most ridiculous things Tuberville has ever said. He clarified that the concerns are being raised by genuine Alabama families who are directly impacted by massive data center projects in their communities and are not foreign agents. Jones criticized Tuberville for insulting these residents instead of listening to their valid concerns, and stressed that Alabama should not be treated as a dumping ground.
