Nscale offers to buy homes near Monarch Compute Campus data center in Mason County, West Virginia
Nscale has launched a "Good Neighbors Home Purchasing Program" for 53 homes near its Monarch Compute Campus data center under construction north of Point Pleasant, West Virginia. The initiative follows neighbor complaints about dust and muddy water runoff from the construction site impacting their properties, with some residents already choosing to sell their homes.
Nscale, the developer behind the Monarch Compute Campus data center project, has initiated a "Good Neighbors Home Purchasing Program" offering to buy 53 homes located near the construction site in the Meadowlands Estates area, north of Point Pleasant, Mason County, West Virginia. Jason Bechtle, site manager for Nscale, confirmed the program is underway, with some residents already accepting the offer to sell their properties as of early June 2026.
The data center, situated along W.Va. 62 near a former Army National Guard building, commenced site work in April. Construction activities have reportedly led to neighbor complaints regarding dust generated by earthmoving operations. Furthermore, a recent heavy rain event caused muddy water to escape the construction site, affecting at least five homes on University Lane and Hawthorne Lane. The home purchasing program appears to be a direct response to these community impacts and concerns.
