The Pittsburg City Council voted 4-0 to place a proposed 45-day moratorium on a future agenda for consideration. The pause would apply to Phase 2, Phase 3 and future data center projects, but not the already-approved Phase 1 project, while the city develops data center policies and considers a power agreement with AVAIO Digital.

The Pittsburg City Council voted 4-0, with Mayor Dionne Adams recusing herself, to schedule discussion of a 45-day moratorium on future data center development. Councilmember Juan Antonio Banales said the proposed pause would cover Phase 2, Phase 3 and other future projects while allowing the city’s advisory committee to complete its work and recommend rules governing siting, design, noise, water use and energy consumption.

The moratorium would not affect Phase 1 of the planned data center project at the former Delta View Golf Course, which officials said has already been entitled and approved. Pittsburg Power and AVAIO Digital are negotiating a power agreement for Phase 1 that would require council approval if finalized. The proposed moratorium is expected to return at a special meeting later in the week or at the earliest available date.
