Residents in Cromwell are opposing a proposed data center at 76 Geer Street, near Cromwell Middle School, although no formal project proposal has been filed. Developer Global Common says it has been working with town officials for more than a year, while a resident’s proposed zoning regulations will be considered by the Planning and Zoning Commission after the town rejected a proposed data center moratorium.

Residents are voicing opposition to a potential Global Common data center at 76 Geer Street in Cromwell, next to Cromwell Middle School. Resident Juan Duque has sought changes to the town’s zoning regulations, including a formal definition and new requirements for data centers, and is urging neighbors to participate before the project advances.

Developer Bob Foxen said Global Common has worked with town representatives since October 2025 and that officials determined the project is allowed by right, meaning it would not require a public hearing. Foxen cited potential green space, limited water use, a dedicated power grid and tax revenue as benefits, while a proposed data center moratorium failed by a 5-2 vote. The Cromwell Planning and Zoning Commission is scheduled to consider Duque’s regulatory application on December 3.
