Gov: Archibald Borough Council, County Officials
Residents of Archbald, Pennsylvania, continue to voice fierce opposition to the proposed Wildcat Ridge Data Center Campus during a recent conditional use hearing. Community members expressed anger over mailers sent by a local ad agency, Ryan Lee Media, on behalf of the developer, which residents reportedly returned at the start of the meeting. One resident specifically highlighted concerns about environmental impact, stating that 10 of her neighbors have either died from or are living with cancer, fearing the introduction of another carcinogen. The meeting also focused on the potential impact on traffic, with developers claiming negligible effects, a claim residents disputed. Additionally, current and former county officials inquired about the possibility of putting the Wildcat Ridge project on a ballot for residents to decide. Calls were also made for the borough council to agree to a moratorium on data center development. The borough council informed Newswatch 16 that it would take at least a couple more meetings before a vote to approve or deny the project. The next meeting is scheduled for May 14th at Valley View High School.
