Charlestown Advances $105M Data Center
The Charlestown Advisory Plan Commission conditionally approved a $105 million data center proposal from Qlever LLC, despite vocal opposition from residents concerned about its proximity to homes and a school. The approval requires an environmental impact study and limits the project to a single building.
The Charlestown Advisory Plan Commission has granted conditional approval for a $105 million data center project proposed by Florida-based Qlever LLC. The decision followed a contentious meeting where local residents voiced significant concerns regarding the project's location, potential noise from industrial equipment, and environmental impacts due to its proximity to homes and a nearby school.
The development, planned for the Shadow Lake Business Park, is expected to be a 55,000-square-foot facility and create approximately 20 permanent jobs. The commission's approval is contingent upon Qlever LLC completing a comprehensive environmental impact study and limiting the development to a single building. No specific construction timeline has been announced yet.
