Data centers draw concern, praise in local area

A build-out of data centers across the Southwest is generating both enthusiasm and alarm as communities weigh promises of economic growth against fears of environmental fallout. In Southern New Mexico, local leaders say Project Jupiter, a $165 billion hyperscale data center in Doña Ana County that will house OpenAI and Oracle, represents an unprecedented economic opportunity.
