The Burien City Council is scheduled to hold a public hearing on Monday, July 13, regarding a proposed moratorium on new data centers. The meeting will also address other key agenda items, including the review of new state-mandated housing regulations and the initial selection of finalists for the vacant Position No. 2 council seat. Community members are invited to provide public comments on the proposed data center moratorium both in person at Burien City Hall or virtually via Zoom.

The city received 14 applications for the vacant council position by the June 26 deadline. Councilmembers reviewed these applications and are expected to narrow the field to five finalists during Monday's meeting. Interviews for these finalists are slated for the July 27 meeting, at which point the council plans to appoint a new member. The agenda also includes an executive session to discuss potential legal matters, as per RCW 42.30.110(1)(i).
