Community members have until end of business Monday, to file appeal against data center
Community members in Colorado Springs have until Monday to file an appeal against the approved application for a proposed data center on Garden of the Gods Road. Despite city planners determining the project meets zoning requirements, hundreds of residents oppose it and are utilizing the appeal process.
The deadline for Colorado Springs residents to file an appeal against the application approval for a proposed data center on Garden of the Gods Road is Monday. The developer intends to convert an existing tech building into a data center.
City planners recently determined that the applicant complies with local zoning and city code, approving the project. However, hundreds of community members are opposed to the development. Residents living within three miles of the site who previously submitted comments are eligible to file an appeal, which requires a $175 fee and must specify how the application violates city code.
If appeals are deemed qualified, a hearing will be scheduled with the city's Planning Commission. Should the Planning Commission deny the appeal, residents have a further option to appeal the decision to the City Council.
