Augusta, Georgia, has secured the top position on LinkedIn's 2026 "Cities on the Rise" list, an assessment of U.S. metropolitan areas experiencing significant job growth. The ranking, which focused on regions with fewer than 2.5 million LinkedIn members, highlights Augusta as a burgeoning hub for career opportunities. LinkedIn Editor-in-Chief Dan Roth emphasized the aim of identifying overlooked cities with strong net migration, numerous job listings, and business investment.

The city's prime ranking is largely attributed to its robust growth in cybersecurity, health care, and technology, with a particular emphasis on data centers and artificial intelligence infrastructure. Roth specifically noted that "AI's driving a lot of growth with data centers" and that Augusta is seeing a significant number of tech jobs moving into the area due to data center locations. The presence of Fort Gordon, home to the U.S. Army Cyber Command, also contributes to the area's appeal in cybersecurity and defense.

Beyond professional opportunities, Augusta scored points for its outdoor recreation and a lower cost of living, making it attractive for career development and family life. Other cities in LinkedIn's top five included Richmond, Virginia; Reno, Nevada; North Port/Bradenton/Sarasota, Florida; and Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
