The Glynn County Commission is scheduled to consider proposed changes to the county s zoning ordinances and subdivision regulations on April 2. This follows a four-hour public hearing where significant opposition was voiced by residents and planning commissioners. Key concerns highlighted during the hearing, held by the Islands and Mainland Planning Commissions at the Brunswick-Glynn County Library, included regulations on beach lighting and potential restrictions for data centers. Resident Bob Dunphy noted that 11 other Georgia cities and counties have implemented noise limits, buffers, and other restrictions on data centers. Donald J. Nakic, a Glynn County resident, expressed worry about losing the night sky due to lighting. Other residents, such as Jennifer Banker, raised concerns that the new rules could hinder rebuilding efforts for her fire-damaged East Beach home. Miriam Lancaster s objections received a loud ovation. Mainland Planning Commissioners Kevin Higgins, Missy Neu, Gary Nevill, and Carol Paige Edwards were present, with Neu herself voicing several objections. Architect Rober Usery also participated, reviewing the proposed documents.
