The Maine Data Center Advisory Council, a state agency formed by Governor Janet Mills, is actively seeking public input regarding ongoing data center proposals in Maine. Governor Mills created the council after vetoing a bill that aimed to pause data center development across the state. The veto was reportedly influenced by an ongoing project in Jy, which has since dissipated.
The advisory council has been conducting meetings throughout the summer and has scheduled two additional virtual sessions for public participation. These Zoom meetings are slated for Thursday, August 27th, from 1 to 2:30 PM, and Tuesday, September 1st, from 5 to 7 PM. Interested individuals can register for these sessions via the state Department of Environmental Protection website.
