Dozens of Valley residents voiced opposition to data centers near homes during a town hall in Mesa attended by Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes. Residents from Ahwatukee said they had struggled to get answers through local zoning, planning and development officials and complained about high-pitched noise from nearby facilities.

One resident who lives about a half-mile from a site said the noise had affected her family and that she was told to move. Mayes said she would support a temporary pause on data center development in Arizona while lawmakers consider regulations, and expressed hope that Republicans and Democrats could work together on a bipartisan bill. Additional town halls are planned in Ahwatukee and Mesa.
