Amazon’s new data center projected to be top source of US emissions

The energy boom's consequences have divided policymakers. Texas's Republican Governor has imposed a moratorium on new data center permits, while Virginia's Democratic Governor expressed intent to intervene in a large power company merger she fears will raise consumer costs. Congressional Democrats are also split, debating whether to pursue a federal moratorium on data center expansion or to cut associated tax credits.
