Plans filed for $366M Pacifico-BlackChamber data center | Bastrop - Cedar Creek
Pacifico Energy and BlackChamber filed plans for a $366 million, nearly 500,000-square-foot data center in Cedar Creek, the first building planned for a 2,842-acre campus. The project includes a natural gas-fired power facility, faces nearby residents' environmental and community concerns, and is proceeding amid a state-directed pause in regulatory approvals for data center developments.
Pacifico Energy and BlackChamber filed plans Oct. 7 for Project Longhorn—Building One, a nearly 500,000-square-foot data center near Earl Callahan and Walter Hoffman roads in Cedar Creek. The project is estimated to cost $366 million, with construction scheduled from Nov. 30 through Jan. 31, 2028, and is the first of two planned buildings on a 2,842-acre campus.
BlackChamber is developing the data center, while Pacifico Energy is planning an associated natural gas-fired power facility. Aqua WSC approved a resolution to advance a non-standard service agreement for the project, but the developers withdrew tax-abatement requests from Bastrop ISD and Bastrop County. Nearby residents have raised environmental and community-impact concerns, while Gov. Greg Abbott directed state agencies to pause regulatory approvals as ERCOT and other agencies audit proposed data center projects.
