
Ellington Township Approves Data Center Moratorium
The Ellington Township Board unanimously approved a moratorium on permits, licenses, and approvals for data centers during its July 14 meeting. The board also directed the Ellington Township Planning Commission to conduct a study on data centers.
The Ellington Township Board, meeting on July 14, unanimously approved Resolution 2026-07R, enacting a moratorium on the issuance of permits, licenses, or approvals for data centers. Board members Suzy Rockwell, Gregg Campbell, Laura Boyke-Hawes, Carmell Pattullo, and Supervisor Russ Speirs all voted in favor of the measure.
Alongside the moratorium, the board directed the Ellington Township Planning Commission to undertake a study of data centers. The meeting also covered routine township business, including updates on the township hall, discussions on cemetery worker wages, and the establishment of pay rates for election workers.
