State fines Vineland data center $1.07M for operating 62 generators without permits

The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) has issued a substantial fine of $1.07 million to the DataOne data center located in Vineland. The penalty stems from violations of the Air Pollution Control Act, specifically for the installation and operation of 62 large natural-gas power generators without obtaining the necessary permits.
Separately, DataOne USA LLC is facing a lawsuit filed in Cumberland County Superior Court. Plaintiffs in the case are seeking the dismissal of the data center's operations, citing excessive and intrusive noise emanating from its facility in East Vineland. Construction on the DataOne data center campus along South Lincoln Avenue in Vineland is ongoing.
