The La Crosse City Plan Commission has unanimously approved a proposed ordinance to establish an 18-month temporary moratorium on new data center developments within the City of La Crosse.
The measure is designed to provide city officials with time to thoroughly study and develop regulations for data center facilities, a process that will involve collaboration with La Crosse County's ad hoc committee.
The ordinance is now slated to proceed to the Judiciary and Administration (J&A) Committee for a public hearing scheduled for Wednesday. Following the J&A Committee's review, the proposal will then advance to the La Crosse Common Council for a final vote, anticipated on August 13.
