DartPoints has addressed public and mayoral concerns regarding its proposed data center development in Lexington, Kentucky. The company emphasized that its plans do not involve constructing a new hyperscale data center, but rather modernizing an existing technology campus that has operated as a data center for over 30 years.
DartPoints stated its intention to make the facility cleaner, quieter, and more energy-efficient. This includes replacing older backup generators with newer, noise-controlled equipment and utilizing a sealed, closed-loop cooling system that reuses fluid, significantly reducing the need for city drinking water. The company also highlighted that the site already possesses much of the necessary electrical infrastructure and committed to collaborating with Kentucky Utilities (KU) on the project.
The response follows a public rally on September 27 where community members and city officials, including Mayor Linda Gorton, voiced their opposition and concerns about the data center project.
