Pekin, Illinois will no longer be the site of a new data center, according to an announcement made by City Attorney James Vasselli during a recent City Council meeting. Vasselli informed the council that the city had received a letter from Western Hospitality Partners, the developer, formally terminating their agreement to construct the data center.
This decision follows several months of strong opposition from Pekin residents who voiced significant concerns about the proposed project. The Pekin City Council was reportedly already leaning against approving the development even before the developer's withdrawal letter was received, signaling a definitive end to the data center plans in the area.
