The Army is in early, conditional talks with a global investment firm to build the facility on more than 1,000 acres of unused land. While supporters point to economic growth, critics worry about the strain on water resources, air quality and rising electricity costs in the region.
With no final contract signed yet, community input could play a key role in shaping the project. The meeting, open to the public, is scheduled for Wednesday, April 22, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Wyndham El Paso Airport Hotel Conference Center. Doors will open at 6 p.m., with opening comments starting at 6:30 p.m.
