The Humans First organization, a grassroots movement, made a stop in Effingham County, Georgia, as part of its 35-stop tour across 27 states, aiming to highlight community pushback against data center expansion. Senior Advisor Kylie Kremer stated the group's mission is to end non-disclosure agreements, protect residents' finances, and prevent AI infrastructure development, which they believe threatens liberty and security.
Kremer noted that Atlanta is already a significant data center market and criticized Georgia Republicans for not prioritizing conservative principles, citing issues like eminent domain and high power rates. Humans First advocates for increased legislative engagement with citizens, arguing that both Republican and Democratic officials have been unresponsive to community concerns regarding data center impacts on electricity costs, water usage, noise pollution, and rural areas.
