Gov: Baltimore County Planning Board, Baltimore County

Residents rallied Thursday afternoon along Washington Avenue in Towson ahead of a public hearing on Baltimore County’s draft data center study.

The Planning Board introduced a 51-page draft report in July that recommends some of Maryland’s toughest potential restrictions on data centers, including conditional approvals, limiting them to industrial areas and significant setbacks from homes, schools and other sensitive locations. The board has not finalized the report.
Baltimore County’s current data center moratorium runs through Jan. 1, 2027, or 90 days after the Planning Board submits its final report, which is due Oct. 1.
