Jay Hardaway Backs Pause on New Data Center Approvals in Texas
Texas House District 71 candidate Jay Hardaway supports Gov. Greg Abbott’s pause on new data center approvals. He said the pause should give lawmakers, local governments and residents time to improve transparency and assess potential water and power impacts before additional projects proceed.
Republican Texas House District 71 candidate Jay Hardaway said data center development is among the most frequent concerns he hears from voters across the Big Country. During an interview with BigCountryHomepage.com political reporter Areebah Bharmal, Hardaway endorsed Gov. Greg Abbott’s decision to pause new data center approvals across Texas.
Hardaway said the pause should allow state lawmakers, county and municipal officials, residents and data center companies to improve communication about how facilities operate and how much water and electricity they use. He also called for statewide transparency standards while preserving local control over development decisions. House District 71 includes Taylor, Jones, Nolan and Callahan counties.
