The PUC's action follows growing concerns about rising electricity demand on the PJM Interconnection grid, which supplies power to Pennsylvania and a large portion of the Eastern United States. While the study does not predict a specific number of outages, it emphasizes a significant reliability risk associated with the increasing number of large-scale data center projects and the necessary transmission infrastructure.
