Duos Edge AI is undertaking a $111 million phased expansion of an existing data center in Columbus, Georgia's Corporate Ridge Industrial Park. This project, which repurposes a former TSYS call center, has largely gone unnoticed compared to a larger proposed hyperscale data center in the city. City officials and economic development entities have not been directly involved.
COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) — While a proposed hyperscale data center in northeast Columbus has generated significant public debate for the past six months, a smaller data center expansion by Duos Edge AI in Corporate Ridge Industrial Park has largely flown under the radar.
Duos Edge AI, a subsidiary of Duos Technologies Group, Inc., confirmed that the expansion of an existing data center is underway. Public documents and interviews by WRBL News 3 revealed that a former TSYS call center building is being renovated and repurposed for $111 million. Columbus Mayor Skip Henderson stated he had little information about the project, indicating it was primarily handled by private entities without direct involvement from the city or its economic development arm, Choose Columbus.
The company stated it is undertaking a phased expansion of existing data center infrastructure. Unlike the larger, more controversial project in Northeast Columbus, this site is in an industrial park already zoned for data centers, thus avoiding intense public opposition or input. The project began in June with H&M Contractors, an Alabama-based company, pulling the initial permit, though Columbus-based Alexander Electric and Freeman and Associates are now completing the work.
