Anderson County Council is set to vote on a proposed six-month moratorium on new data center applications. This moratorium aims to allow county officials time to develop regulations addressing the industry's impacts on utilities, water, infrastructure, and property owners. The council will also consider adopting a new zoning map and other economic development agreements.

The Anderson County Council is scheduled to hold a meeting on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. where they are expected to vote on several key measures, including a proposed six-month moratorium on new data center applications. The temporary ban is intended to provide county officials with time to formulate regulations that will address the data center industry's effects on local utilities, water resources, infrastructure, and nearby property owners.

In addition to the data center moratorium, the council will also consider adopting the Center Rock zoning map, which was previously approved by voters in an August 11 referendum. Other agenda items include an economic development incentive agreement for an expansion at Arthrex, proposing a $28.2 million investment and 63 new jobs, and a first reading for rezoning 91.65 acres on Dixon Road. They will also vote on "Project Palmetto," an industrial initiative projected to bring over $215.56 million in investment and create at least 217 jobs.
