Data center applications withdrawn ahead of Upper Merion zoning meeting
MLP Ventures withdrew seven zoning applications for a proposed data center cluster totaling more than 4.6 million square feet in Upper Merion Township, prompting cancellation of a scheduled Zoning Hearing Board meeting. The township had opposed the applications, previously denied related land development plans, and is defending against litigation filed by the developer.
MLP Ventures withdrew all remaining claims tied to seven zoning applications for a proposed data center cluster across properties on Horizon Drive, Renaissance Boulevard, and River and Swedeland roads in Upper Merion Township. The withdrawals led the township to cancel a scheduled Zoning Hearing Board meeting because no claims remained for consideration.
Upper Merion officials had authorized their solicitor to oppose the applications, and the township previously denied five land development plans over missing documentation. MLP Ventures’ Brian O’Neill has sued the township and appealed earlier decisions, leaving the broader dispute in litigation despite the withdrawal of the latest zoning applications. Township Board of Supervisors Chair Tina Garzillo said officials believed they would have prevailed at the hearing, while the developer did not respond to requests for comment.
