Jones announced in a new television advertisement his intention to implement a one-year moratorium on data center projects if elected. He stated that this pause would allow the state to establish "guard rails" to protect communities and ensure public input before further development proceeds.
Conversely, Tuberville published an op-ed in the Alabama Political Reporter, criticizing Jones's moratorium proposal as a lack of a plan. Tuberville's vision involves welcoming data centers but with strict conditions: they must pay full taxes, cover the total cost of their energy, and replace any resources they consume. He emphasized Alabama's need to lead in artificial intelligence development.
